The Story Behind Wet Paper Towel Training

If you grew up in the UK, chances are you remember those school days when every bump, bruise, or graze was met with one magical solution… a wet paper towel. No matter what had happened, the answer was always the same. It’s a bit of a running joke now, but for us, it sparked something much bigger.

Both Chris and I come from backgrounds working in primary schools, nurseries, and sport. Day after day, we saw first-hand how confident children were when playing, but how unsure adults sometimes felt when an accident happened. A simple fall in the playground or a knock during PE could leave staff questioning what to do next. That hesitation wasn’t because they didn’t care, it was because many hadn’t had the right training or didn’t feel confident enough to step in.

That’s when we realised, we knew exactly what to do.

Where the Idea Came From

We wanted to move beyond the old “wet paper towel fixes everything” mindset and help schools, workplaces, and communities build real, lasting confidence in first aid. The kind of confidence that comes from hands-on, meaningful training, not just ticking a box or sitting through another long day of PowerPoint slides.

So, we created Wet Paper Towel Training, a name that everyone smiles at, remembers instantly, and connects with. It’s a little nostalgic, a little funny, but most importantly, it’s a reminder of how far we’ve come in understanding what real care looks like.

What Drives Us

We don’t deliver dozens of different courses, because we only teach what we truly care about. From First Aid at Work and Paediatric First Aid, to CPR and Emergency First Aid, every course we run is designed with purpose and passion.

Between us, we’ve seen first aid situations in classrooms, on playing fields, and in workplaces and we’ve learned that confidence can make all the difference. Our mission is simple: to make sure that when those moments happen, people don’t freeze or second-guess themselves. They act.
